Disable nProtect

NOTE: The proper page title is "Disable nProtect", however due to Wiki restrictions, the case has been changed.

Contrary to popular belief, nProtect has nothing to do with the fetch system. While the use of the term 'disable' is a slight misnomer, it's used here for ease of use. What we will actually be doing is tricking nProtect into believing we have the files its looking for. It is in no sense 'disabled'.

Server Changes

For this process, you will need a webserver installed on a machine somewhere. This guide assumes you already have a webserver installed and configured.

  1. Download the nProtect Server Files from the sidebar.
  2. Verify the MD5 hash: f2ee73ef8d258fef75ebf79fb9fefa96
  3. Unzip the nProtect.zip file preserving the file structure.
  4. Move the directory structure to the web root of your webserver.

Example:

If your webroot is

C:\htdocs\

then, the nProtect directory should be copied there resulting in

C:\htdocs\nProtect\

The full path to the file update.cfg should be

C:\htdocs\nProtect\GameGuard\RealServer\update.cfg

and available on your website at:

http://webserver/nProtect/GameGuard/RealServer/update.cfg

Client Changes

Please follow complete instructions at Client Install.
